Webbies An Online community for Communities

A very successful event was held recently in the Voluntary Sector Resource Centre, Haverfordwest to launch a new online community.

The community is an area on the internet created specifically for volunteers working on community websites in Pembrokeshire. It is a private area where ideas and information can be share between local webmakers of all different skills levels.

The launch was attended by a variety of representatives from local community groups such as sports clubs, community transport, arts, music and a local church. There was an opportunity for people to find out what other types of websites groups are working on and to share ideas.

Following a tasty lunch, the community was officially launched to those present and further invitations were later sent to groups unable to attend on the day. The online community is supported by the 123communicate project based in Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS). The project has supported over 150 local groups either by hosting their site or by helping them start from the beginning to get a website up and running.

The online community offers another level of support to all of those groups and anyone else in the voluntary sector who is thinking about setting up a group website. If your group would like to discuss having its own website, the 123communicate team offers a whole package of support.
